State Plots 3700 Homes for Moreton Bay’s North Harbour

A marina, hotels, homes and maritime industry infrastructure have been earmarked for Moreton Bay’s North Harbour by the Queensland Government. 

North Harbour at Burpengary East has become the latest Priority Development Area to be declared by the state.

It is expected to generate about 2000 jobs and $456 million a year for the regional economy.

Plans for North Harbour under the Priority Development Area include 3700 homes, a 400-berth marina, tourism and hotel precincts, and associated infrastructure.

An early development area will include 200 homes that will be fast-tracked. 

The Governor-in-Council last week revealed the $2.74-billion masterplan.

Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) will partner with the City of Moreton Bay, North Harbour by Port Binnli, Trask Land and the community to plan the Priority Development Area.

Queensland deputy premier Jarrod Bleijie said it would bring the state closer to its goal of providing a million homes by 2044. 

An Interim Land Use Plan is in effect, allowing development applications to be fast-tracked for the Early Development Area of the PDA. 

EDQ will also create a development scheme for the priority development area during the next 18 months and community consultation is scheduled for 2026.
