Hilton Plans Return Stay in the South Australian Capital

A 27-storey Hilton hotel to be built in Adelaide’s east end will reconnect the global inn brand with South Australia after last year’s sale of its 40-year-old hotel on the city’s main street broke the nexus.
Last year, Thai group Amora Hotels & Resorts extended its Australian footprint by buying the 40-year-old Hilton Adelaide on King William Street and revealing plans for a $40-million upgrade. The Hilton brand will leave the location at the end of June.
But Hilton is already back in the SA capital, this week announcing that the 251-key Hilton Adelaide East End would be built on a cleared site at 299 Pirie Street.
Hilton plans to develop the 27-storey hotel under a franchise agreement with Auriga Investments and have the project operated by Trilogy Hotels.
The hotel—on a site 800m from the Rundle Mall shopping strip—is planned as part of Arcadia, a mixed-use project in the eastern end of the CBD.
Hilton Australasia director of development Tushar Raniga [pictured at top with Auriga Investment Group director Eric Luk and Tony Ryan from Trilogy] said the project would reintroduce the multinational hotel brand to SA as “a modern, design-led flagship aligned with Adelaide’s growth and evolving skyline”.

The hotel is planned to have rooms ranging from 31 to 140 sqm, a recreation deck, food and beverage venues, 303sq m of meeting space, a fitness centre and a pool.
Auriga Investment Group director Eric Luk said Arcadia was conceived as a place where community, design and city life come together.
“Together they will create a destination that draws locals back into the CBD and supports the year‑round calendar of events that make Adelaide unique,” he said.
“This is a long‑term investment in the city’s future and we are committed to delivering a precinct that elevates Adelaide for generations to come.”
Trilogy Hotels chief executive Scott Boyes said every great city needed a Hilton hotel. The hotel is expected to open in 2031.
