Strong events programs continue to drive hotel bookings across key Australian markets. The coming Ashes Test Cricket series is boosting hotel occupancy for Perth and Adelaide in the back half of 2025, following on from the success of the British and Irish Lions tour this year. According to data from CoStar, Perth hotels are already at 83.6 per cent occupancy for between November 21 and November 25, a significant uplift of the occupancy for the same period the previous year, which was 45.1 per cent. Adelaide is also enjoying an uptick in bookings with the city hotel occupancy rate at 86.4 per cent for the duration of the second day of the Test match. But the pressure is on for the Queensland capital, which is facing a 30,000 room shortfall going into the Olympic Games in 2032.
