Perth Airport Developer’s Final Greenfield Project Approved

The property division of Perth Airport has received Federal Government approval for industry and aviation support services to be developed on its last major greenfield site.

The approval clears the way for Skyfields to develop 15ha of land at its 160ha Tonkin Connect industrial precinct.

Skyfields chief property officer Dan Sweet said industrial sites as big as the one approved were increasingly difficult to secure in metropolitan Perth.

Sweet said the approval was timely, with plans progressing to combine the airport’s two disjoined terminals into one.

Approved for aviation support and industrial uses, the 15ha site is positioned to accommodate businesses that need to operate close to terminals and airport infrastructure.

The site has direct access to major roads, is near the Kewdale freight terminal and has links to Perth Airport’s terminals, reinforcing the airport’s role as the gateway to Western Australia.

Tonkin Connect is one of five precincts across Skyfield’s 2105ha airport estate, alongside the Airport Central, Redcliffe Metro town centre and office park, Dunreath Green future mixed‑use development, and Airport North precincts.

Also at Tonkin Connect, Epiroc’s workforce training centre completed in February. The training centre is the global mining technology provider’s fourth building at Tonkin Connect.
