Reserve Bank HQ to be Stripped to Steel in $1bn Asbestos Make-Good

It has been a tale of woe for the Reserve Bank of Australia with its asbestos-riddled heritage-listed headquarters at 65 Martin Place, but it finally looks to be moving ahead. 

The City of Sydney Council this week approved the first stage of the central bank’s bid to remove asbestos and heritage items from inside the building.

But the amended approval places conditions on the demolition that would limit construction noise and vibration impacts on its neighbour, the Planning and Environment Court of NSW.
