Challenge to North Sydney Tower’s State Significant Status Rejected
The NSW Land and Environment Court has knocked back an attempt to strip a North Sydney development of its State Significant Development status.
Developer Tara Shore Pty Ltd, acting for the John Taylor Family Trust, submitted plans at the start of the year for a project at 271-273 Alfred Street via the State Significant Development (SSD) pathway.
The project, a 38-storey development of 95 apartments, was declared state significant by the NSW planning minister Paul Scully in October, 2025 via the Housing Delivery Authority (HDA) pathway, which was introduced in 2024.
