Five Things You’ll Learn at Urbanity 2025

The Urban Developer’s flagship event returns with a no-nonsense look at what’s shaping the future of property.

Urbanity 2025 will take over The Star Gold Coast next month, bringing together the developers, decision-makers and disruptors driving the next decade of urban growth.

Here are five key takeaways on offer across three packed days of keynotes, panels and case studies...

1. How automation is already changing the game

CSIRO futurist Dr Stefan Hajkowicz opens the conference with a keynote on artificial intelligence, robotics and the rise of autonomous systems in the built environment.

From AI-driven safety tools to machine-led site optimisation, the future of construction is already taking shape—and the smart players are getting ahead of it.

2. What it takes to deliver scalable housing now

With housing supply in crisis, Urbanity dives into the models cutting through the noise.

Sessions such as Build, Baby, Build and Designing for Diversity will cover build-to-rent, land lease, co-living and tenure-blind social housing—highlighting how developers are scaling delivery without sacrificing design or viability.

3. Why precincts are the real battleground

Urban development is no longer about standalone projects—precinct-scale thinking is driving value and reshaping cities.

This year’s program features deep dives into mega-projects such as the Martin Place Integrated Station, and the infrastructure-led urban renewal emerging around Brisbane 2032. Expect insight into delivery frameworks, partnerships and planning pathways behind these high-stakes assets.

4. Where ESG meets the bottom line

Circular design, modularity and embedded sustainability strategies are moving from box-ticking to core business.

Sessions such as What Goes Up Must Come Down and Designing for Disassembly will explore how forward-thinking developers are baking environmental outcomes into project fundamentals—and unlocking long-term value along the way.

5. Who’s still writing cheques—and who’s not

It’s no secret: capital is tighter, and deals are harder to close.

Urbanity’s finance stream—including the Everest Basecamp panel—will put the spotlight on who’s funding what, where the risks lie, and how developers are navigating debt, equity and feasibility in 2025’s new normal.
