Expanding hotel brand Crystalbrook Collection has revealed a move into the heart of Canberra.
Under a deal with developer TP Dynamics, a 238-key hotel would open at Canberra’s Garema Place in 2027.
The 10-storey tower would also offer a wellness centre, ballroom, and multiple restaurants and bars. It has an end value of about $200 million.
Ghassan Aboud, founder of Crystalbrook Collection, said his vision for the group to be “truly national” was coming together.
“This growth of our brand across Australia is delivering a strong base for a future expansion of Crystalbrook Collection into overseas markets,” Aboud said.
Crystalbrook chief executive Geoff York said the ACT capital had an “increasing appeal” as the Territory Government continued its strategic plan to revitalise central Canberra.
The brand has been expanding at pace during the past year—also this month it revealed plans to operate a luxury hotel in South Australia.
Owned by Adelaide-based property developers Samaras Group, the development would be named Crystalbrook Sam—becoming the eighth hotel in Crystalbrook’s Australian collection.
The 200-key hotel will be at 15 Halifax Street, right in the heart of Adelaide CBD with construction slated to begin at the end of 2024 and completed in 2026.
Aboud also owns the Rydges Sydney Harbour at The Rocks. He acquired it in September, 2022, for a reported $100 million has has plans to renovate and reopen it under the Crystalbrook banner.
