South-East Queensland will be in the international sporting spotlight for the next six years, adding weight to high-profile projects such as the $500-million-plus Palm Valley Gold Coast surf park precinct.

The partnership between Frank Developments and Palm Valley was announced at Urbanity-26, bringing together residential developer Frank Licastro and the team behind the Gold Coast’s first wave park precinct, led by golf pro-turned-developer Luke Altschwager.

On this week’s special edition of the Blueprint podcast, we bring you interviews from Urbanity Live with Licastro and Altschwager and talk to The Urban Developer journalist Phil Bartsch who has been following the project to talk more about the partnership and what the project means for the Gold Coast.

Under the partnership, Frank Developments will deliver the residential element comprising more than 200 apartments.

The units will be part of a precinct that includes a 5-star hotel, an 18-hole golf course and a 240m German-developed surf lagoon surrounded by a retail and hospitality precinct.

On the podcast we discuss:

  • How the residential element will fit into the $300-million surf park precinct

  • How the Frank Developments/Palm Valley partnership came about

  • What the development means for the Gold Coast

  • Surfing’s increasingly attractive commerciality and how developers have capitalised
